11.2.2007: Donuts in Tampere, sauna in Sammatti

Sunday

Tampere

Oddly enough, people we're sighted at Vapriikki museum only 15 minutes late from the scheduled arrival at 10 o'clock. Needless to say, one of the most popular exhibitions was the caf?, where many delegates took in late breakfast and recovered from the partying last night. The museum however had a big variety of exhibitions, and people also found information about ice hockey, women's right to vote as well as the history of shoe making. After the museum the time of departure was already near, but there was one more thing to do. When visiting Tampere, you cannot leave out the Pyynikki tower, where you can see the whole city and eat some of the best donuts in the world!

Sammatti

Sunday as the first official day of FINMUN 2007 took our distinguished delegates and some organising committee members to FinMUN's favorite cottage El?m?nnokka in Sammatti. In this beautiful log cottage surrounded by snow after registration and welcoming words the delegates took part in a name game. First you state your name and then you make a movement. A slap in the butt became the most loved movement amongst our crew. After dinner people found their way to others who had something in their movement that fascinated them. A few of our Nordic friends decided that they absolutely must swim in a hole in the ice at some point. During the evening various imaginative plots - mostly inspired by Viru Valge 80 % - were woven to break the lake's icy resistance such as giving it the ax treatment or lighting a fire but to no avail. The upstairs ladies only sauna and downstairs unisex one opened around midnight alluring our guests into a true Finnish experience. The unisex sauna became a karaoke venue as well where basically all the songs in the universe were sung or at least the first 10 seconds of each. Various different alcoholic beverages were consumed, the beer stocks of those sleeping ravaged and many new scars attained by rolling in the hard snow.
